13/01/09 at 08:57 Eurostar and East Midlands Train Separated By Barbed Wire
A really interesting photo showing the super sleek and very clean Eurostar and the dirty regional East Midlands train separated by a piece of security barbed wire. Its interesting to see the measures taken by the train companies to stop people going on theinternational service to France and Brussels. This was taken in St Pancreas, which makes me think that the station is probably not a good place to take photos.

Train Information
The two trains featured in this shot is the Eurostar (3002), forming a service to Ebbsfleet, Lille and Brussels and the HST (43 043) is awaiting preparation to form a northbound service. The HST could do with a good clean.
Photo Information
Taken with a compact Sony DSC-T200 which is a small hand held camera this shot is surprisingly good and clean. Since this is a compact camera it has a very short focal length meaning there is a lot of background which really sets off the image.

We were told that Eurostar trains use different lines to normal domestic trains, on a recent trip from Ebbsfleet to Paris. Do you know if this is correct?
Ebbsfleet Station on the 06/05/09 at 21:36
Different lines in the station and on HS1. They can swap over however they rarely do. I don’t think Eurostar trains can fit on domestic line stations. If you look in this image they finish at the same point, yet the eurostar is nearly twice as long.

Yes, the HST could do with a good clean however it should not be regarded as a ‘Dirty regional East Midlands train’. The HST is an iconic high speed train that is still running after 30 years and at its time was the fastest diesel train in the world. This is an interesting photo of high speed trains old and new alongside each other.
