15/01/09 at 08:57 Class 60 at Castleton East Junction

photo image other

A Class 60 068 with no rake of freight to move at Castleton East Junction. The Class 60 is one of the most powerful units on BR network but is the most unreliable. The unit is in the ever common EWS livery, it is a really nice photo and is the accompanying image on the Class 60 Wikipedia page.

A Class 60/068. As mentioned these are the most powerful locomotives in the UK, they are not very reliable and tend to break down. The units are 20 years, from the original 100 there are not many left. EWS own them all.

A really nice shot, well centred. Its quite surprising for what looks like a busy junction to use Semaphore signals, they may just be guarding the junction. The driver of the train looks a bit distracted and bored.
