21/01/09 at 08:57 Spitfire Railtours Class 40 Close-Up
An awesome shot of a Class 40 on Spitfire Railtours. I love the colours and the perspective. I wish I could take such a shot. The lone exposure of about 5 secs brings out the colours in the dead of night, especially the detail in the cab. The train iswaiting at Preston station with the 1Z55 Preston to Kings Cross “Capital Whistler” The tour went across to Manchester Victoria, Huddersfield and Leeds before joining the East Coast Mainline and down to London Kings Cross. The tour was originally booked to be run by 55022 “Royal Scots Grey” but the change of loco was very welcome for some of the travellers.

Train Information
Pride of the British Rail the Class 40 they used to feature largely on the BR network. A great train that is immediately recognisable. I highly recommend going on one of those trips if you ever have the chance.
Photo Information
A loverly shot. To take a similar one you need a tripod and a away to change the exposure. If you are taking a similar shot keep the ISO as low as possible, you will also need to set the white balance correctly (I can't do this) so your colours don't look incorrect.
